ASOS

 Meet ASOS

Over the summer, I received an email from Youth Marketing Connection (YMC), a company connecting brands and students to drive brand recognition on college campuses. I received mail specifically for ASOS, on online fashion phenomenon that has taken over the U.K. and has grown to reach Australia and the U.S. Having heard of this website, I was instantly intrigued and excited at the chance of starting on my path to becoming a Public Relations consultant. It was then I applied for the position of Brand Ambassador at the University of Kansas, hoping for the best but knew there would be competition.

Nailed It!

To my excitement I was contacted the same day, set up for my interview and eventually landed the ultimate position: Brand Ambassador for a fashion superstore that projects the brand through use of social media. From there, I embraced every task and this is what has become of my position:

Fashion

Not only do I get the opportunity to purchase and style ASOS clothes, but I dress them on myself and friends to get the styles and name of ASOS out there. Here is a simple black dress. By dressing it up or down, you achieve diversity in the look of the dress. ASOS is perfect for hunting down fashion basics to style however you please. Little black dresses are necessities and this one is available, along with other styles, only on ASOS.com!

Microtactics

Group visits are an awesome part of my position because I get to talk to peers and friends about ASOS, as well as offer them great prizes and shopping opportunities on the website. To the left is a picture of a sorority chapter visit I accomplished the other week. There, I showed off my ASOS merchandise as well as raffle off some sweet prizes, coupons and giftcards.

Game-day Fashion Spotter

The Game-day fashion spotter was an event I hosted to find the cutest and most fashionable game-day attire. I roamed the tailgates around Memorial Stadium, looking for those with a keen sense of fashion and represented the University of Kansas colors. The best looks were rewarded with ASOS gifts! To the right is me rewarding a fashionable group of friends with ASOS coupons and speaking to them about the company.

Campus Hunt

The most rewarding experience came from my Campus Hunt event. For 3 consecutive days, I hid ASOS merchandise for both men and women around the University of Kansas. I then used social media to provide hints and pictures for hunters to use to find me and their prizes! Check out my Facebook album to see the locations and winners here:

 Social Media Use

The use of social media is a necessity in any PR position and dire in my Ambassador position. It is a creative and unique way to produce images and quirky sayings to get the ASOS brand out in a positive way as well as attract consumers to their social media outlets. By doing so, they keep up with the latest from the brand and indulge in a little fashion break. To the right is a picture of my darling puppy, Rylee. I claim to best form of marketing is catering to an obsession most people possess, in this case it was cuteness! Follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Vine to keep up with my experiences! @aashleyhightt.
